ACT Overview
The ACT is a college admissions exam that assesses a student’s ability to interpret and process given information. The ACT is divided into four sections: English, math, reading and science. Individual section scores (out of 36) are calculated and then averaged to determine a student's composite score (out of 36). Students may opt to include a 30-minute persuasive essay* with the ACT. An essay can earn a maximum of 12 points, but essay scores do not affect composite score calculations.
The ACT is a time-intensive exam, and the key to ACT success is to beat the clock! With WilsonDailyPrep's built-in clock system, students can practice the necessary strategies while working on pacing.
*Although the essay is optional, WilsonDailyPrep recommends that all students take the ACT plus writing.
